FLAVOR LAB
A standards-aligned, hands-on science literacy experience for K–5 learners.

Inside the Flavor Lab
Where students discover their inner scientist one delicious experiment at a time.
Built around the themes of Wacky Zacky Bugs Out, the Flavor Lab transforms story into science. Through a guided taste investigation, students explore how changing variables influence outcomes while practicing the habits of scientific thinking.
They make predictions, analyze results, use precise vocabulary, and defend their conclusions with evidence. By the end of the experience, students begin to see that scientific thinking is already part of how they understand the world.

Learning Outcomes
With science and literacy naturally interconnected, the Flavor Lab supports students in developing a practical understanding of the scientific method while building confidence with academic and domain-specific vocabulary.
Students also strengthen:
• Evidence-based reasoning and explanation skills
• Collaborative discussion and analytical thinking
• Meaningful connections between literature and scientific inquiry
Aligned with NGSS Science & Engineering Practices and K–5 ELA standards.
